FAQ :
Q: What is RedEarth’s Private Power Plant ?
A: RedEarth’s Private Power Plant (PPP) is software that manages the generation, consumption, storage and export/import of electricity by RedEarth systems automatically for customers using its algorithm. The goal for the algorithm is to ensure the end user gets best value from its RedEarth system; in some cases it can lead to significant passive income for customers. In other cases, it will mean customer’s system will work more efficiently for their benefit, especially with the expected demand for EVs.
Q: What is the difference between VPP and PPP ?
A: RedEarth’s PPP captures the benefits for the end user. With VPPs, the benefits go to the power company.
Q: How does RedEarth energy trading work ?
A: After installation, let the system run for three months on the Optimum package (back to base monitoring), after which the RedEarth team can assess eligibility for PPP services such as energy trading or smart EV chargers.
For energy trading, this will only be effective in certain cases. It will depend on whether the whole system generates excess energy, and how much power is needed at peak times – typically dinner and breakfast time. For new customers, it is best to install the system with the Optimum package so RedEarth can evaluate suitability for additional functionality such as energy trading.
• Energy trading, EV chargers and other services may not be applicable to all circumstances;
• Installation of a RedEarth system does not mean the provision of unlimited electricity; sometimes your energy usage increases after installation of a RedEarth system;
• Energy trading will only work in some circumstances, your RedEarth system can only make a certain amount of electricity;
• You may still get a power bill (unless off grid);
• An estimate can be made to determine if you will generate excess electricity, and whether your inverter will have sufficient capacity to power peak loads and export excess power;
• It is not guaranteed that you will make passive income or profit from a Red Earth Bush Chook;
• Energy trading depends on many variables such as the amount of sunlight per day, the number of solar panels and their position, the size of the inverter and number of batteries installed, and your power consumption.
